LIMITED RUN OF 50 BOOKS –
NEEDED TO MATCH THE LUXURY AND FINE-ART APPEAL OF THE PRODUCTS INSIDE
John E. Marriott is a world renowned wildlife photographer, known especially for his photography in the beautiful and fierce Canadian Rockies. When he needed a box for his special collector’s edition book (which retails for nearly $1,000) he came to us. The goal was to create a box that would be a keepsake along with the photo book. Something that would reflect the wild outdoors that John photographed, while being as carefully composed, and unique, as the images themselves…that could speak to both the rustic natural world, and the refinement of fine art.
Special edition photo books can sell for thousands of dollars, and this box – designed for a limited run of 50 books – needed to match the luxury and fine-art appeal of the products inside. Each material was carefully considered for durability and strength, look and colour, and how it felt to hold in your hands. A mix of leather-like materials, and more traditional woven fabrics give contrast and interest. A minimal foil stamped logomark tells the consumer everything they need to know. The unique design of the box speaks to the significance of what is inside, and – in an increasingly disposable culture – the over-the-top care in construction tells the end-user that this is meant to be used, loved and explored, for many years to come.
